How to get Mac App in Canada

My Cetus 3D printer arrived today and I'm in the process of setting it up.

It looks good so far, but I've run into a snag. I'm using an iMac and I love in Canada, so I am supposed to download the software from Apple's App Store. The problem is, the app is only available on the US App Store and is not accessible from Canada. Not having the software has stopped me in my tracks.

Can somebody suggest how I can get access to the app form any other source, or can Cetus have the app made available on the Canadian App store too ?

Thnaks.

This should hold you over... its not the recommended software but its made by Cetus parent company and very similar.

Thank you very much. I will try it tomorrow.

I'm surprised that anybody answered so quickly, the forum seems to be an extremely good resource.

I would recommend also joining the Cetus3D Users group on facebook as well

The FB user group is:

Thanks but I'd prefer to leave facebook as a "last resort" :)

The problem being that they're having issues with the forum right now, and rafts of information, suggestions and general help has become unavailable because only the 'first page' of responses to questions is stil visible...

I've just had some time to try UP studio and it doesn't seem to be able to find the printer. For the record, I'm using version 2.1.5 of it on a Mac running Sierra 10.12.3 and use this machine regularly to connect to a Printrbot Simple via USB, so I know that USB is working.

I've tried starting up the printer, then starting UP and trying to use it to initialize the printer. I've also tried the reverse (i.e. starting UP and then the printer and then trying to initialize). Then I rebooted the computer and tried both ways again, in every case I get error message 3 "Can't link the printer".

I suppose that I could try connecting to my old Afinia printer (also a rebranded UP mini, IIRC) but that won't take me any farther forward.

There's a BETA version of UP Studio available for Mac as well, but I don't want to add the drama of beta software on something that isn't working now :)

But thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to wait for Cetus to notice my email on their support line.

I was able to print on upstudio on my mac before i got S3D about 5 days ago

with upstudio, you definitly need to be connected via USB

Now that IS interesting. Looks like I'll have to check the cable and the printer more carefully. Either the cable's screwed up or the printer isn't communicating.

In case we run into the single page problem, my email is the id shown at shaw dot ca.

What version of upstudio were you using, what macOS version and what order did you start the printer, the software and connect ?

have you tried having the software and the printer both running at the same time then plugging in the USB?

It turns out that there was an update to the Mac app and it was removed from the Canadian App Store while it was being updated. Jason pointed out that it would be available as soon as the update was completed and, indeed, it appeared on the store after a few days.

I've installed it now and everything is connecting fine.

I love the printer, but the app seems to need some more work :)
