Cooling of extruder and bowden connector

I want to use some metallic filaments which are brittle. As I see the connector e.g. the whole extruder get too hot for such experiments. Could I connect another ventilator to reduce the heat?

There is a second unused 5V connector under the white cover on top of the extruder. You could connect a second fan there.

I'm a little confused. Surely the extruder is at the temperature that you choose? Why is it too hot?

I think dhei was probably concerned about heat-creep. Although I haven't experienced premature filament melting from what I can tell, so I'm not sure where that concern came from.
